Unless the creator of a fic is making it painfully clear they don't like the queerness of a character, I'm usually charitable to gay characters being paired in straight settings since it's all non-canon fiction made in presumably good faith (and sometimes horniness). Plus it's kinda silly to expect every piece of fan content to completely follow everything in canon. So I'm just reading as a "CharliexAlastor hunter/prey" comic.
