Pretty sure it’s a technique of converging stories. The past leads to the present, and both will work together to create more interesting character moments. This technique is also better for foreshadowing rather than convenient flashbacks right before major moments

I like it and all but I feel the series focuses way too much on the past than the present but that is my personal preference.
