Idk where you thought this but Laios (The main character) and Marcille (The elf girl) are never romantically involved. They are party members who both decided to enter the dungeon to look for Falin (Laios’ sister) after she got eaten by a dragon and was unable to be revived (You need to bring back someones body to the surface to revive them).
Laios and Marcille never have any romantic interest in eachother at any part of the story.

No you need to bring them to a dungeon revive station reviving only working in the dungeon because of the high amounts of mana in it. Besides Laios and Marcelle have plenty of cute moments throughout the series. The author just didn't want to write romance. Re-read the manga or rewatch the anime because you clearly need a refresher

Also acting like the nightmare episode with Laios and Marcelle along with all their other moments meant nothing is genuinely stupid. They're not a couple by any means but nobody in the main cast is dating Chilchuck is always married so he doesn't count but he is in a relationship
