First, make sure you've gotten to the iron pickaxe. It's required that you have it.
Next, go to y 17 or y 12 (I forget which), that is where most diamonds spawn at.
You can strip mine, but it's easier if you just go into a cave for diamonds.
Once you've obtained 3 diamonds, make a set of sticks and use a crafting table to make a diamond pickaxe.
diamonds can spawn anywhere from y5 to y15, but a lot more spawn at y9, 11, & 12
Also In Many Caves its Easier To Find Near Lava So if Theres Alot Of Lava Ur Most Likly Near Diamonds
Lava near diamonds myth is false its possible but not true
They often spawn unexposed, try in the lava
