Fun fact, the vast majority of people who use the word "homophobic" use it incorrectly. Defined literally, it means "fear of the same" from the greek word homos, meaning "same" and the suffix -phobic, meaning "to have an extreme or irrational fear of (something)"
Bealive it or not but people are not speeking greek when thay use that word and in english it has a diffrent meaning, just like how the spanish word for black has a very diffrent meaning in english.
The English language is based off of the Greek language though? And the Spanish word for black literally means black, and is translated to blac, so how could it be different? It does not mean anything else.
ENGLISH is based on no one language, rather English is multiple languages mutated and spliced into one. It has hints of german, greek, gaul, roman and many others that I will not go into
