=The Rose to Forgotten Hope=

Once held aloft in morning's glow,
The rose of hope began to grow.
With petals bright and colors deep,
It promised all that life could keep.
 

But shadows grew, the light turned gray,
Its roots gave way, its leaves decayed.
Dreams it held began to fray,
As time stole warmth and drew away.
 

Now brittle thorns and faded hue
Are all that’s left, a broken view.
A rose for those whose paths were crossed
By choices made, and hope long lost.
