One thing I hate about fantasy anime is when its basically Sword art online and everyone is aware of levels and shit like they know thier reality is a game world takes me out of it honestly.

the problem with fantasy animes is that 99% of the authors dont touch grass. nearly all of their knowledge about medieval fantasies come from other anime rpgs that are just copying other anime rpgs, all the way as far back as Lord of the Rings. its why all their armor look goofy, why they all have the german-style buildings, and eat steak and omurice. There are very VERY few animes that actually make something creative with the medieval fantasy genre like Frieren, Delicious in Dungeon, Berserk, and the upcoming anime Witch Hat Atelier.
