Why they got me sitting on the THRONE for the first 30 seconds? Don't stare at me like that unless I'm NEXT! 😭✌️

I'm curious about this character's story. Before, there was only Miku, but now I see the two of them everywhere. Where did this girl come from?
Teto was originally a more emotive version of Miku and slightly newer but people still liked miku because of the marketing so making it into a new vocaloid just made sense. Now their are like 4-5 of them. You got Miku (blue), Teto (red), Neru (yellow) and Gumi (green) each one has a specialisation.
This comment is so wrong it’s absurd. Kaito, Meiko, Miku, Lin&Ren, Luka, Teto, Gumi, Flower, Kafu, and others are all virtual synthesizers, capable of making humanish sound (and released in roughly that order). Each has its own fan base, but Teto in particular garnered attention for originating as a joke on 2chan (Japan’s version of 4chan). UTAU Teto was this early, kinda rough voicebank, with its main benefit being that it’s free. With the newer SynthV voicebank, which is genuinely incredible, Teto gained increased attention in both her forms. This, along with the smash hit of 32ki’s Mesmerizer, brought Teto to where she is today. Neru is associated with Teto since the song Triple Baka, way back in the UTAU days. The song Zako uses the character of Neru, though the actual software is Miku’s. I fucking hate Gumi, but if I remember correctly she was adored for a while (pre-covid basically) because of her incredibly humanoid voice. She gradually lost popularity.
An append to all of this is the actual popularity.
1. Miku
2. Rin
3. Teto
4. Len
5. Gumi
Also note this reflects general viewership as opposed to recent content.
Teto and other vocaloids exist for a long time now but they just got more popular with the rise of the internet and probably newer song being make (i guess Teto got more popular because of mesmerizer,birdbrain,... or smt)
Kasane Teto was originally an April fools day prank in 2008 by miku fans on the a Japanese forum called 2channel. Then someone thought it was funny so they made a vocaloid synthesizer that sounded like the modern day Teto. She only got really popular in the last few years due to tik tok and such.
My bestie is actually writing a Miku X Rin fanfic currently. A quote from him: “Realistically, Miku wouldn’t be a dom but it’s not like vocaloids have preset personalities anyways. They’re literally instruments.”
