I was initially thinking "buzzies", but that'd only make sense if all insects could fly.
I'm pretty sure all insects do have exoskeletons, so "exoskellies"? This has the added benefit of including arachnids.
The one downside I can immediately think of is that it sounds a bit too much like "scalies".
