Every time you receive a upvote your rating increases a little, the higher your rating the higher your upvote weight. like: Rate = 5, Upvote = 5.
Downvotes do not decrease your rating. The higher your rating, the harder it is to increase it; it decreases over time, and it's easier to increase your rating the older your account is.
